Text description provided by the architects. MJ firm was designed for a immature couple of forestry engineers and their 2 children. Information technology has 145 m2 and is built of forest and brick. The main idea revolves effectually the concept of house and landscape and how they relate to the 2 facades; the road and the rural scenery.
As this firm was designed from Tokyo we wanted to include some features of the local architecture. I of the things nosotros saw in the houses of Japan, both traditional and contemporary, is a closed condition to the street to open condition inward, a result of the circuitous relationship between the public and private realms of Japanese society. Inspired by this, the firm has both conditions, closed to the public road and open to the landscape.
However, we wanted to propose a dialogue between these opposed conditions. This led us to create an overlap on the roof and achieve an open human relationship between the ii sides through windows, framed views, and the access of light. Thus, the ceiling becomes the pivotal chemical element of the house and its movements and angles correspond to an intention to generate a minimal impact within the existing mural.
Another concept introduced was the Japanese thought of "Engawa" or "betwixt", a characteristic of Japanese houses where different layers deed equally a threshold between public and intimate places. Therefore we designed a terrace that borders the two master facades equally a continuous chemical element, separated a few inches from the footing level allowing an intermediate space between the exterior and interior.
